The History of Hermes
- 1837 Thierry Hermes opens a workshop to manufacture luxury saddlery.
- In 1880, the second generation, Emile Charles Hermes, moved the boutique to its current location in the Faubourg Saint-Honoré and began selling directly to customers in addition to manufacturing and wholesale.
- In 1892, the company launched the "Haut-à-croire", a saddle bag for carrying horse saddles.
- In 1900, the company began selling horse tack and bags to Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, and grew into a world-famous carriage dealer.
- 1920: The handbag division is launched.
- In 1935, Haute Couture released the "Sac-à-croire" handbag.
- 1937: First scarf collection presented.
- 1947 Jean Guerlain perfume department is founded.
- In 1979, the company entered the watch division with the launch of the Arceau watch.
- In 2015, Apple collaborated with Hermès to release the Apple Watch Hermès.
